Guess is planning to expand in Mainland China. At this moment Guess has already opened 113 retail outlets in Mainland China, but it has huge plans for increasing this number even further. It still plans to open 40 more retail outlets this year and the company would like to have 500 outlets before 2017.

The plan is to have an outlet in any mall of significance. The Los Angeles brand wants to sell its ‘lifestyle collection’ in Mainland China. The collection consists of denim garments, handbags, watches and footwear. These types of products are very popular in China and China’s market for luxury goods is still growing rapidly.

Many fashion brands are eager to enter the Chinese and Asian market, because of its size and rapid growth. Guess, but also other brands such as Zara, H&M, Abercrombie and Jack & Jones have already shown that the market is very profitable and sales are still increasing quickly.

Although it might seem that success is guaranteed on the Asian market, this is not completely true. Some brands are struggling in the Chinese market and it’s definitely not always a quick road to success.

Recycling

Uniqlo has been recycling clothing for years in Japan. They started with their Fleece Recycling Campaign in Japan in 2001 and they have been applying recycling to all Uniqlo clothing since 2006 in Japan. It took a while before they expanded their recycling initiative to other countries, but in March this year South Korea was the second country to participate in Uniqlo’s recycling project.

Now the Japanese fashion brand is taking its great All Product Recycling Initiative to all countries where it operates. Customers can now return their old clothing to the store if they feel it’s not hip anymore or if they just don’t need it anymore. The stores will collect the clothing and make sure it goes to people that can make good use of it.

Since 2006 Uniqlo has collected over 11 million pieces of clothing. At first they wanted to recycle clothing for industrial use, but later they realized that most clothing still looked in good condition, so they decided that they would use the clothing to help other people instead. Clothing that has been collected at stores Uniqlo stores is now being sent to help people in refugee camps and other people in need.

Uniqlo will start accepting customers to bring back clothing from September 1 in America, the United Kingdom and France. The stores request customers to wash the clothing before returning it and the clothing should not be dirty or wet.

Many women have probably been waiting for this news. Armani’s new campaign featuring Rafael Nadal, the ex-number one tennis player in the world, has gone live. Nadal can be seen wearing little more than Armani jeans or Armani boxer shorts.

Nadal is not the first sports player to star in an Armani campaign. The incredibly popular football players David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo were Nadal’s predecessors and promoted Armani products before Nadal did. Nadal was photographed by Steven Klein.

The female collection will be promoted by American R&B singer Rihanna, who will succeed actress Megan Fox. These ads have not gone live yet however.

More information can be found on Armani’s website.
